ICMC advocates for rights‐based policies and durable solutions directly and through a worldwide network of member bishops conferences, and alongside government and non‐governmental partners. ICMC Europe is currently recruiting for an intern to assist with our marketing, design and communications work, to be based at the ICMC Europe Office in Brussels, Belgium for an initial period of 6 months. The post would suit a current student or recent graduate, and will provide valuable exposure to NGO work in European policy, advocacy and partnerships.
Responsibilities and key areas of activity: Design, develop content for and manage the distribution of ICMC Europe’s quarterly resettlement project newsletter Develop and maintain social networking and web-based communication tools, including blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, LinkedIn page and groups and others as required Maintain ICMC Europe’s resettlement project contact database Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of ICMC Europe meetings and events Contribute to event organisation, in particular to spatial design and arrangements (marketplace stands, arrangement and other exhibits) and logistical organisation (hotel, flights and conference venues) Respond to enquiries from partner organisations, project participants and the general public Manage ICMC’s resettlement project website, including researching, developing and uploading site content, shaping website design and liaising with webmaster Oversee the publication production process on behalf of ICMC Europe Edit and proofread texts directed toward internal and external audiences Design and produce leaflets, posters, displays/exhibitions and other written and visual material required by ICMC project activities Maintain relations with Press and Communications staff from ICMC’s partner organisations Undertake work-related travel as necessary
Qualifications and keys comeptences: We are looking for someone who will become an enthusiastic and flexible staff member of our growing ICMC Europe office in Brussels.
The successful applicant will: Possess a graduate level degree in one of the following or related areas – IT, communications, marketing, design, social sciences Have an interest in human rights, refugee and asylum-related issues Have experience in event organisation Be creative and innovative, with strong design and spatial design skills Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English Possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in website management Demonstrate expertise in database design and management Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Be a good team player and able to work in a small office environment Be capable of working independently on assigned tasks and be well-organised Be experienced in establishing, maintaining and developing content for web-based social networking and communication tools Demonstrate a proven interest in the work of ICMC and enthusiasm for working within a European NGO environment
Additional desirable qualities include: Post graduate level education e.g. Masters - communication, marketing, social studies Knowledge of other languages
Conditions: Temporary contract to begin as soon as possible Full time (38 hours per week) Some work outside of Brussels, which may require (very limited) weekend work in return for time off
